The Significance of Specific IgG Subclass to Chironomus Plumosus(CP) in CP-sensitive Patients.

Abstract

|
CP has been considered as one of the significant respiratory allergens in this country. To evaluate the significance of specific IgG subclass to CP in CP-sensitive patients (>2+responders on shin prick test), we measured specific IgE and IgG
subclass
(IgG1, IgG2, IgG3 and IgG4) to CP by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay in 97 CP-sensitive patients¢¥ sera, and control sera who showed all negative responses on skin prick test. There were no significant differences in absorbance values between
patients¢¥
and control sera. No differences were noted according to allergic disease or the existence of CP-specific IgE antibody. High specific IgG4 bindings were noted in two cases of rhinitis and one of asthma who had no specific IgE binding. It is
suggested
that CP-specific IgG1, IgG2 and IgG3 antibody might be an immune response to exposure to CP. Further studies are needed to investigate the pathogenic role of specific IgG subclass to CP.
